Bar Angle and Structural Angle

Bar angles have leg dimensions of less than 3”, while structural angles have leg dimensions of more than 3”. Both are available in several grades:

  • Specification A36 is a carbon steel that’s designed for riveted, bolted, or welded construction of bridges and buildings and is appropriate for general construction. It has a minimum tensile strength of 58 ksi, a minimum yield strength of 36 ksi, and offers excellent weldability, enabling high-quality welded joints.
  • Specification A572 structural-steel angle is made of hot-rolled high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) steel that’s stronger than A36 angle, and is easy to weld, form, and machine. This angle has extensive applications but must be galvanized or lacquered if they will be exposed to atmospheric conditions. A572 grade angle offers 50 ksi minimum yield strength and 65 ksi minimum tensile strength.
  • Specification A588 structural-steel angle is made from another type of HSLA steel with a specific alloy composition that gives is a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi and minimum tensile strength of 70 ksi. Because it contains copper, A588 structural-steel angle offers corrosion resistance from atmospheric conditions, making it last longer and giving it an extensive range of applications.
  • Grades A709 or AASHTO M270 steel angle is available upon request.

Bar angle is stocked in sizes ranging from 1/2” x 1/2” x 1/8” to 21/2” x 2-1/2” x1/2”

Structural angle is stocked in sizes ranging from 3” x 2” x 3/16” to 8” x 8” x 1-1/8”

Galvanized Angle

This component is structural-steel angle that has been hot-dip galvanized according to the A123 specification. Our steel products are galvanized through immersion in a zinc bath, which creates a bonded alloy coating on the components. This coating is affordable, durable, maintenance-free, and corrosion-resistant, making it appropriate for applications in which the metal will be exposed to the atmosphere. Any of our hot-rolled steel angle can be galvanized. Our galvanized angle is available in sizes ranging from 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” x 1/8” to 8” x 6-1/2” x 1/2” with 20 ft and 40 ft in-stock lengths.
